Due to reasons beyond our control, this family session took place at an unlikely place - the Rossmoor Retirement Community. Scheduling the session was a fight against time as Evelyn's mother is battling the last stage of cancer. All that Evelyn asked for are some photos to document her family, most importantly, something for her daughter to remember her Mother/Grandmother by. I have never been more nervous about a session as I was on this day. A bit of nervous energy has always made me work better but I really did not want to disappoint this family.
Evelyn and her family were incredibly sweet, fun, and vivacious. Despite the circumstance, their personalities shined and their energy was contagious. At the end of the session, Evelyn said she wanted something non-conventional. Whaaaat?! That was when I realized we had all been so focused on planning the session around her mother that I had forgotten to ask Evelyn what she likes. So, we had some fun doing jump shots and playing "baby guitar" (scroll down to see, I promise it's worth it :)).
To Evelyn - wishing you and your family peace during this time. Thank you for trusting me with such a special moment.
